Swedish quartet ABBA is a well known name on international music scene. Formed in 1972, they provided us with unforgettable songs such as ‘Fernando’, ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Waterloo’ and many more. Still loved by audience of all ages, ABBA left an unquestionable mark in the history of popular music, and influenced a wide range of contemporary artists.
It is a small wonder that musical inspired by group’s hits, called ‘Mamma Mia!’, became a worldwide phenomenon. Croatia didn’t dodge being ABBA-crazed, as proven by show’s production in Zagreb theater ‘Komedija’, which premiered in summer of 2015.
Croatian version of ‘Mamma Mia!’ was eagerly awaited, and received a lot of praise both by general public and media. It features a notable cast, including female vocalists Renata Sabljak and Vanda Winter, but also popular male singers Damir Kedzo and Luka Nizetic. Residents of Zadar and their guests will have a chance to enjoy this musical on November 24th, as it will be performed in Visnjik Hall.
Written by British dramaturge Catherine Johnson, ‘Mamma Mia!’ tracks 20-year-old Sophie in her search for unknown father, just days before her wedding. The unique quest is followed by numerous comical situations and interesting twists. Once the final act is finished, all hands are applauding, as the storyline is supported with numerous ABBA songs, and nobody can stay idle to their tones.
