Festive Fun in Zadar

This year’s festive programme in the beautiful city of Zadar is action packed and full of fun and frolics for all the family. Set amongst the old ruins the city is famous for, and mostly centred in Petar Zoranic Square, you will find a month-long celebration of everything Christmassy, all beginning on Saturday 28 December.

St Peter’s Square on the beautiful island of Vir sees the lighting of the first Advent candle, taking place on that Saturday, and from that moment there is a full month of events. Every day features a market, events for children throughout the day, including face painting and music, and many foodie fun events too, including local delicacies to be tried and purchased for your Christmas gifts.  Of course, throughout the month Santa will be making an appearance too!

Okay, let’s get specific.

28 November – Vir Island, St Peter’s Square at 5 pm, be there! This is when the first Advent candle will be lit, with merriment, live music, food, drink, and lots of fun shows and performers to keep the kids happy. In addition, a huge number of lit lanterns will be released into the night sky, to mark the opening of the Christmas month’s events.

29 November – Something a little different, check out events put on by the Sports Fishing Association and try out some roast squid, sold on the Square from 7 pm.

2 December – The official start of the month’s entertainment, with children’s karaoke, face painting, DJ shows, snow, a laser show, and a rock band show.
